Greetings. Just a few words to introduce a sample of my work. Hopefully you will see the difference in the styles. I love poetry and songs and try to make everything a little different. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did writing them. Thali`a

Resolutions

I joined the British Army in 1929
For the army life to me just then, was looking simply fine
So I dashed into the office and I signed the dotted line
That was my good resolution for 1929

I was drafted out to India in 1931
The girl I left behind me said
“Thank God now he’s gone”
To celebrate the occasion, she went out with another one
That was her bad resolution for 1931

I landed out in India in 1932
And an old soldier said to me “”How long have you got to do?”
When I told him 4 years he said “Here’s a bullet for you”
That was his good resolution for 1932

I went on an instruction course in 1933
I was working night and day, expecting to get a D
By the time the course had ended I was nearly on C.B
That was the Officer’s resolution for 1933

I left India for Palestine in 1934
And I don’t think there is one of us wants to see that place anymore
We we’re happy when the L.Fs took over Frozapore
That was their good resolution for 1934

I landed up in Haifa in 1935
And I think we were all lucky, to leave that place alive
First we were doing one guard, but finished up doing five
That was Mussolini’s resolution for 1935

We left Haifa for Shanghai in 1936
I took the place of a Corporal, who was in a terrible fix
But as I passed the QM stores, he shouted “Here’s your chopsticks”
That was the Quartermaster’s resolution for 1936

I landed up in Tunt-sin in 1937
As I played ping pong with Anna-May Wong, I thought I was in heaven
But when Anna-May Wong was bet by King Kong in the last eleven
Twas the referee’s resolution for 1937

I was sent back to the depot in 1938
With a big RP upon my arm, I stood at the castle gate
And God help any rookie, who came in a minute late
That was a rotten resolution for 1938

I went back into civvy life in 1939
I’d been on the dole that long, I thought the thing was mine
And when I went one morning he said “Nothing for you next time”
I finished with resolutions in 1939

Regret

I’m sorry that I doubted you
I know that I was wrong
And when I got to know the truth
I burst forth into song
It seems to me like yesterday
When first I saw your smile
Those twinkling eyes, and flashing teeth
Seemed to follow me mile by mile
Where’re I go, What`er I do
Your face I can’t dismiss
And very oft when small I’m sure
You felt your mother’s kiss
So I hope you will forgive me
And try and understand
I’m sorry now, I didn’t know
So please “Don’t play the band”
Just smile my staunch American
As you did on that first night
Then I can smile instead of smile
And then switch out the light
Goodnight

On the day you marry me

Astounded by your beauty
The day that we first met
Your shining eyes
Your angel smile
With my heart I made a bet

These are lovely poems Thali'a thank you for your contribution. The only unfortunate thing is that the Library is IC, so Resolutions will only work if the frame of reference for the places was changed to be Combine Canon related. Hope this isn't too much of an issue.

((I'll try and work on resolutions but maybe be too tricky so here are some more that I can sumbit instead Rennek. A little more generic))

My song for you is tender
It's motions soft and sweet
It's rhythm very steady
A definite rhythmic beat
The tenderness your heartstrings
The sweetness your blue eyes
The rest stands for your character
As clear as sunny skies

The Galaxy

It holds my heroes

How about "Life through my eyes". It reflects a lot of my own feelings
